SMT assembly
for maximum precision
Precise and reproducible SMT production lines.
Our fully automated, meticulously designed SMT production lines incorporate standardised elements such as handling devices, a laser marker, a paste printer, SPI (solder paste inspection), pick-and-place machines and a reflow oven. This consistent setup guarantees top-quality and reproducible assembly manufacturing. A key feature is our reflow oven process.
We use customised soldering profiles for our reflow oven. Tailoring the solder profile to the specific requirements of each assembly guarantees consistent and reliable soldering. This precise approach is essential for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards.
Your benefits in SMT production:
- Product-specific soldering profiles
- Automated, reproducible processes
- State-of-the-art SPI and AOI systems
- Suitable for both series production and prototype manufacturing
- ESD-compliant production environment
THT production
with certified quality
Maximum efficiency and quality: our THT assembly manufacturing at a glance.
Our THT assemblies are produced in specially equipped manual assembly areas. At each workstation, our production staff, who are all IPC-A-610-certified, have access to a tablet that provides them with the latest data in real time.
Our automated soldering processes are based on cutting-edge technology. With our two nitrogen-based selective soldering systems, we can solder even the most complex double-sided PCBs in a reproducible and cost-effective way. A nitrogen-based inline wave soldering system is available for larger order quantities. For complex solder joints, we use a highly productive soldering robot that ensures reproducible soldering results.
THT production at SMTEC means:
- IPC-A-610 certified personnel
- Selective and wave soldering with nitrogen
- Soldering robots for maximum precision
- Real-time process data acquisition
- Flexible adaptation to customer requirements
Coating
for long-lasting assemblies
Conformal coating: the protective shield against environmental influences
To protect electronic assemblies from external environmental influences, we recommend coating them. With our state-of-the-art inline coating system, we offer solutions for conformal coatings. This technology gives you the flexibility to coat the entire assembly, or only specific parts as required. It not only ensures effective protection against moisture, dust and other environmental factors but also helps to increase the useful life of your electronic products.
Your benefits:
- Effective protection against moisture, dust, and chemicals
- Selective or full-surface coating
- Precise inline coating system
- Extended product lifespan
Testing
and quality assurance
100% inspection and custom solutions.
Before delivery, we subject each assembly to a thorough 100% inspection using 3D AOI. We also offer flexible testing options such as in-circuit testing, X-ray inspection, flying probe testing and functional testing. These testing methods can be implemented according to your specific requirements.
A particular highlight is our in-house adapter manufacturing for in-circuit tests, which allows us to provide customised solutions and ensure the most thorough testing. You can trust our extensive testing experience.
Alternatively, we can also use your current testing setup and integrate it into our own processes.
Our quality features:
- 100% visual AOI inspection
- Custom-designed test strategies
- In-house adapter production for in-circuit tests
- Complete traceability of all test data
Box building
from component to finished product
Assembly, packing and shipping: our one-stop service.
The finished product is created by integrating PCBs into a housing together with the necessary wiring. This process ensures seamless functionality and quality. For device assembly, we create comprehensive assembly instructions for a continuous process, enabling your team to work efficiently and accurately.
After commissioning and testing, the fully assembled device can – if desired – be packed in sales packaging and shipped directly to your customer. This service offers you a convenient solution for bringing your products to market quickly and reliably.
Box building services:
- Mechanical and electrical final assembly
- Functional testing and commissioning
- Packaging and shipping services
- Efficient production processes
Laser cutting
for maximum precision
Unlimited design possibilities: laser cutting tailored to your needs.
Our laser cutting for PCBs offers maximum precision and enables highly accurate separation. Thanks to this technology, even very fine contours can be achieved without causing any mechanical stress to the PCB or adjacent components. No matter what shape you need, our laser technology can create it. From simple assemblies to complex designs, we offer you tailored solutions in series production quality.
Your benefits of laser cutting:
- No mechanical stress
- Maximum precision for every contour
- Reproducible series quality
- Flexible adaptation to complex designs

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about Electronics Manufacturing in Switzerland
What is meant by electronics manufacturing?
Electronics manufacturing encompasses all steps from component placement and soldering to testing and assembly of electronic assemblies. It forms the core of modern electronics production in Switzerland and ensures that individual components are transformed into reliable, fully functional products.
What is the difference between SMT and THT manufacturing?
In SMT assembly, the components are soldered directly onto the surface of the printed circuit board, whereas in THT assembly, the components are inserted through holes and soldered on the reverse side. Both methods have specific advantages, depending on the type of assembly and its intended application.
You can find more information in our article 👉 Was ist SMT und THT?
Technical fundamentals can also be found in the Wikipedia article on Surface-Mount-Technologie (SMT) and Through-Hole-Technologie (THT)
What is conformal coating?
Conformal coating involves applying a thin protective layer to electronic assemblies. This reliably protects against moisture, dust, corrosion, and chemical exposure.
In Swiss electronics manufacturing, conformal coating plays a central role in making assemblies more durable and resilient – especially in industrial applications.
Does SMTEC also offer prototype manufacturing?
Yes, our production lines are designed to be flexible, allowing both small series and prototypes to be produced efficiently.
For particularly fast projects, our Fastline prototype manufacturing is at your disposal.
Your benefits at a glance:
- Instant quote: Transparent and online, immediately after digital clarification of all requirements
- Delivery from 8 working days: Helping you reach the market faster (zzgl. Transportzeit)
- Real-time component availability: Checked during the ordering process and just before finalisation
- AI-assisted software: Saves valuable time and reduces your costs
- Swiss manufacturing: Quality and reliability combined with global access
Can I use my own test setup?
Of course. We are happy to integrate your existing test setup into our systems and tailor the processes precisely to your requirements. This way, your individual test strategy remains part of the entire electronics manufacturing process in Switzerland, without compromising on quality or process reliability.
How does SMTEC ensure traceability?
Each assembly is assigned a unique identifier, through which all production and test data are stored in the system. This ensures that it is always possible to trace when, how, and with which components an assembly was manufactured.
Why is electronics manufacturing in Switzerland worthwhile?
Electronics manufacturing in Switzerland stands for the highest quality standards, precise production processes and short communication channels. Companies benefit from technological expertise, stable supply chains and certified production processes.
What advantages does electronics manufacturing in Switzerland offer compared to production abroad?
Compared to offshore production, electronics manufacturing in Switzerland offers significantly higher process reliability, better quality control and complete transparency across all manufacturing steps. In addition, logistics risks and delivery times are significantly reduced.
Which industries benefit from electronics manufacturing in Switzerland?
Our electronics manufacturing in Switzerland is particularly suited for demanding industries such as medical technology, industrial automation, energy, mechanical engineering and high tech applications.
